    Social Policy Report Cards Minimize

Over 6-months ago the Our Island Our Voices campaign released its platform of priority issues in the 2010 State Election for achieving a fairer Tasmania.

Since then we have run forums, released policy statements, conducted polling and lobbied all parties and candidates to adopt our vision for a fairer Tasmania as part of their own policies for the March State Election.

We have now released our report cards on how the election policies of each of Tasmania's three political parties compare with our platform.

All parties have performed well in the areas of education, relieving cost of living pressures and protecting our vulnerable older Tasmania.

Some of the parties have embraced our vision for a public transport revolution in Tasmania more than others, while others have committed to embracing a preventative health approach to start addressing the causes of Tasmanians poor health, rather than just the symptoms.

You can download our report card on each of the parties policies here:

You can also download a detailed register of each parties commitments on key issues in the Our Island Our Voices platform here.

9 out of 10 Tasmanians want gambling action Minimize

Independent polling by EMRS reveals that 9 out of 10 Tasmanians want tighter regulation of gaming machines in the community.

Our Island Our Voices is calling on Tasmania's political parties to commit to addressing the scourge of problem gambling in the community by reducing the betting limit on pokie machines from $5 to $1, reduced venue opening hours and less advertising of gaming in the community.
